The AI technology s ability to quickly adapt and manage cow density effectively in the holding yard has significantly alleviated stress on the cows, resulting in a calmer and more productive herd. The Flow system employs cameras to monitor and track each animal, automating the backing gate’s movements based on real-time data. This automation replaces the need for manual operation, which often leads to cows being tightly packed and stressed. Less stressed cows produce more milk, and even minor issues like foot problems can significantly reduce milk output, explains Butler. By removing the inconsistencies and errors associated with human operation, the Flow system ensures that cows are handled more gently and efficiently, improving overall animal welfare. The benefits of the Flow system extend beyond efficiency and milk production.
